S.D. Admin. R. 67:42:17:10 - Assistant qualifications - Licensed child care and school-age program
In a licensed child care or school-age program, a provider's assistant shall be at least fourteen years old, may not be left alone with children in care, and may be counted in the staff-child ratio only when they are under the direct supervision of a provider, program director or the individual responsible for planning and implementing the program.
A provider's assistant shall demonstrate the ability to provide care that attends to the child's physical growth and development and to the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of the child.
