Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0940-03-09-.06 - INITIATION OF ISOLATION, MECHANICAL RESTRAINT, OR PHYSICAL HOLDING RESTRAINT
(1) A licensed
practitioner may initiate isolation, mechanical restraint or physical holding
restraint. In the absence of a licensed practitioner, isolation, mechanical
restraint, or physical holding restraint may be initiated by a licensed
practical nurse, a registered nurse or by mental health personnel. All staff
who initiate the use of isolation, mechanical restraint, or physical holding
restraint must have completed training requirements in compliance with this
chapter prior to initiating isolation, mechanical restraint or physical holding
restraint. A licensed practitioner who has been trained in the use of
isolation, mechanical restraint, and physical holding restraint must be
contacted immediately for order of the isolation, mechanical restraint, or
physical holding restraint if a licensed practitioner did not initiate
it.
