Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 1155-02-.02 - SCOPE OF PRACTICE
(1) Any person who
possesses a valid and current license in Podiatry issued by the Board has the
right to use the title licensed podiatrist. No other person shall assume this
title on any work, letter, sign, figure, advertisement, or device to indicate
that the person using the same is a licensed podiatrist. The work performed
includes offering advice and services to the public.
(2) Universal Precautions for the Prevention
of HIV Transmission - The Board adopts, as if fully set out herein, rules
1200-14-03-.01 through 1200-14-03-.03 inclusive, of the Department of Health
and as they may from time to time be amended, as its rule governing the process
for implementing universal precautions for the prevention of HIV transmission
for health care workers under its jurisdiction.
(3) A licensed podiatrist may perform ankle
surgery subject to the provisions of T.C.A. §
63-3-101. Those licensees
intending to perform such ankle surgery shall maintain their proof of
compliance with T.C.A. §
63-3-101 at their practice
location, as it may be inspected by the Board or its authorized
representative.
(4) A licensed
podiatrist may order diagnostic tests from licensed medical laboratories and
may receive results of such tests, provided the need for such tests is relevant
to the practice of podiatry.
