Utah Admin. Code R657-3a-6 - Possession of Animals and Animal Parts
(1) An individual shall obtain a certificate
of registration before possession of a live animal classified as
controlled.
(2) A certificate of
registration is not required for possessing a live animal classified as
noncontrolled.
(3) Any animal or
animal parts in a person's possession must originate from a legal
source.
(4)
(a) A person who lawfully possesses an animal
classified as controlled or prohibited may transfer possession of that animal
to another person only after that person first applies for and obtains a
certificate of registration from the division for that animal.
(b) The division may issue a certificate of
registration granting the transfer and possession of a controlled or prohibited
animal only if the applicant meets the application criteria provided in Section
R657-3-6.
(5) A certificate of registration is not
required to possess a live animal if the applicant is registered and in good
standing with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
