Wash. Admin. Code § 296-56-60099 - Hand tools
(1) You must
maintain hand tools used by employees in safe operating condition.
(2) You must make sure hand-held portable
electric tools are equipped with switches that must be manually held in a
closed position to operate the tool.
(a)
Portable power-driven circular saws must be equipped with guards above and
below the base plate or shoe.
(b)
The upper guard must cover the saw to the depth of the teeth, except for the
minimum arc needed to permit the base to be tilted for bevel cuts.
(c) The lower guard must cover the saw to the
depth of the teeth, except for the minimum arc needed to allow proper
retraction and contact with the work. When the tool is withdrawn from the work,
the lower guard must automatically and instantly return to the covering
position.
(3) You must
make sure only cutting tools are used to cut metal strapping or banding used to
secure cargo.
