Wash. Admin. Code § 296-874-30006 - Make sure counterweights are safe and used properly
(1) You must make sure counterweights:
(a) Are made of material that cannot flow;
and
(b) Have been specifically
designed to be used as counterweights.

Note: |
The following cannot be used as counterweights: |
|
1. Sand, gravel and similar materials that can be easily dislocated; |
|
|
2. Construction material such as masonry units and roofing felt. |
(2) You must secure counterweights to
outrigger beams by mechanical means to prevent them from being accidentally
detached.
(3) You must leave
counterweights attached to the outrigger beams until after the scaffold has
been disassembled.
