dooced

Primary tabs

Dooced is a media term used for losing one’s job (getting fired) because of something you have publicly written in your blog, journal, or other website. The term dooced was coined in 2002 by Heather Armstrong, who was fired after she wrote about annoying habits of her work colleagues in her personal blog, dooce.com. However, “doocing” may not always result from what people have written. In 2004, Ellen Simonetti, a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, was fired when her managers found inappropriate photos of her in her uniform on her website.
