Unbundled legal services refers to the practice in which a lawyer provides discrete legal services to a client rather than handling the client’s entire legal matter. Instead of full representation, the lawyer and client agree that the lawyer will assist with specific tasks, such as drafting documents, giving legal advice on particular issues, or preparing a client for court proceedings.
Unbundled legal services are often used when clients wish to manage parts of their legal matter on their own but seek professional assistance for limited aspects of the case. This approach is closely related to limited scope representation and is intended to increase access to legal assistance by allowing clients to obtain targeted help at a reduced cost.
