A post-answer default judgment is a legal ruling issued by a court when a defendant, who has already filed an timely answer to the plaintiff’s complaint in a lawsuit, fails to appear at trial or otherwise present a defense on the merits. In such cases, the plaintiff may request the court to enter a default judgment against the defendant.
