117 Stat. 1160, provided that: “The amendments made by this Act [amending this section and section
8422 of this title] shall apply with respect to any annuity entitlement to which is based on a separation from service occurring on or after the date of enactment of this Act [Oct. 3, 2003].”
Effective Date of 2002 Amendment
Pub. L. 107–135, title I, § 122(c), Jan. 23, 2002,
115 Stat. 2451, provided that: “The amendments made by this section [amending this section and section
8422 of this title] shall take effect 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act [Jan. 23, 2002] and shall apply to individuals who separate from service on or after that effective date.”
