2 AAC 92.220 - Odometer disclosure
(a) An owner
transferring ownership of a vehicle shall complete the assignment and the
odometer disclosure statement on the title and deliver the title to the
buyer.
(b) The department may
reject an application for title if the applicant does not surrender the title
or another document with an odometer disclosure statement that complies with 49
C.F.R. Part 580, revised as of October 1, 2005.
(c) Only the owner or a legal representative
of the owner as shown on the face of the title may sign the odometer disclosure
statement.
(d) A person may not
sign the odometer disclosure statement as both buyer and seller in the same
transaction.
(e) The odometer
disclosure statement is not required for a vehicle that
(1) has an unladen weight of more than 12,000
pounds;
(2) is not
self-propelled;
(3) is 20 years old
or older; or
(4) has not been
previously titled or registered.
