4 AAC 40.050 - Definitions
In this chapter,
(1)
"board" means the State Board of Education and Early Development;
(2) "commissioner" means the commissioner of
education and early development;
(3) "department" means the Department of
Education and Early Development;
(4) "district" means a school
district;
(5) "applicant" means a
person or entity that applies for a grant or other thing of monetary value from
the department;
(6) "expertise in
the subject matter" means having significant experience, training, or knowledge
in the issue;
(7) "substantial
evidence"
(A) means relevant evidence in the
record that a reasonable mind might accept as adequate to support a
conclusion;
(B) does not include an
evaluation of competing inferences that could be drawn from the
evidence;
(8) "working
day" means a day other than Saturday, Sunday, or a state holiday.
Notes
As of Register 151 (October 1999), the regulations attorney made technical revisions under AS 44.62.125(b)(6) to reflect the name change of the Department of Education to the Department of Education and Early Development made by ch. 58, SLA 1999, and the corresponding title change of the commissioner of education.
