5 AAC 28.975 - Definitions
Unless otherwise provided in this chapter,
(1) "bycatch" means any species or species
group taken incidentally in the course of participating in a directed fishery
for another species or species group;
(2) "directed fishery" means a fishery that
is managed for the taking of one or more target species or species
groups;
(3) "landing" means the act
of offloading fish for sale or for transport to a buyer for later
sale;
(4) "target species" means a
species or species group for which there is sufficient data to allow that
species or species group to be managed on its own biological merits.
