6 AAC 25.030 - Election boards; regional counting boards and regional area coordinators
(a) The
election supervisor shall appoint election officials and regional area
coordinators.
(b) The chairperson
of the election board shall appoint a team of counters to assist in the review
if the election supervisor finds they are needed.
(c) At locations where there is no precinct
tabulator, ballots must be hand counted by the election board.
(d) In all precincts, the election board
shall forward the election results, including, in a general election, the total
number of first-choice rankings each candidate received, by facsimile machine,
electronic mail, or other telephonic or electric transmission to a regional
elections office on election night. Each regional elections office shall
transmit the unofficial results to election headquarters. The chair of the
election board in each precinct shall mail precinct materials to the director
and regional supervisors the day after the election.
(e) The election supervisor shall appoint a
regional counting board composed of no more than eight members. No more than
two members of the board may be of the same political party or political group.
The regional counting board is responsible for overseeing the counting of
absentee and questioned ballots and for assisting the division in pre-election
processes.
