7 AAC 145.010 - Prohibition against reassignment
(a) The department
will not make payment on a claim known by a provider to be covered by Medicaid
if the claim has been assigned, sold, or transferred, including transfers
through the use of power of attorney, to a collection agency, service bureau,
or individual who advances money to a provider for the provider's accounts
receivable.
(b) The use of a
billing agent or accounting firm that bills and receives payment in the name of
the provider is permitted if payment for this service is not related on a
percentage or other basis to the amount to be billed or collected.
