7 AAC 67.330 - Additional provisions for licensed foster homes to provide care for children
(a) In addition to other applicable
requirements of
7
AAC 67.300 -
7
AAC 67.370, a foster home shall
(1) install and use safety gates or a
department-approved barrier to prevent access to stairs, if infants or toddlers
are in care; and
(2) install outlet
covers in all electrical outlets that are not in use and that are accessible to
children under five years of age.
(b) A foster home that provides diapering
shall ensure that diapers are changed regularly, that soiled areas on the child
are washed and dried, and that the spread of disease, discomfort, and infection
is minimized. Children may not be left unattended on a diaper-changing
surface.
(c) A foster home shall
ensure that toilet learning is
(1)
individualized;
(2) developmentally
appropriate;
(3) conducted in
accordance with the child's case plan or therapeutic care team; and
(4) never forced.
(d) A foster home that provides a play area
for use by children in care shall ensure that the play area is free of hazards
that can cause injury, including selecting and maintaining play equipment so
that it
(1) is securely anchored, unless it is
portable and self-supporting;
(2)
is free of entrapment, pinch, or crush points;
(3) is free of sharp points, comers, or
edges; and
(4) provides clearance
between the equipment and any objects that may cause injury.
