Ariz. Admin. Code § R18-11-204 - Interim, Presumptive Designated Uses
The following water quality standards apply to a non-WOTUS protected surface water that is not listed on the Protected Surface Waters List but is added on an emergency basis pursuant to A.R.S. § 49-221(G)(7):
1. The aquatic and wildlife AZ (cold
water use applies to a non-WOTUS protected surface water above 5000 feet in
elevation;
2. The aquatic and
wildlife AZ (warm water) applies to a non-WOTUS protected surface water below
5000 feet in elevation;
3. The
full-body contact AZ use applies to a non-WOTUS protected surface water if the
Director makes a determination that the non-WOTUS protected surface water is
used by humans for swimming or other recreational activity that causes the
human body to come into direct contact with the water to the point of complete
submergence. The use is such that ingestion of the water is likely and
sensitive body organs, such as the eyes, ears, or nose, may be exposed to
direct contact with the water.

The partial-body contact AZ use applies to a non-WOTUS protected surface water
if the Director makes a determination that the non-WOTUS protected surface
water is used by humans in a way that may cause the human body to come into
direct contact with the water, but normally not to the point of complete
submergence (for example, wading or boating). The use is such that ingestion of
the water is not likely and sensitive body organs, such as the eyes, ears, or
nose, will not normally be exposed to direct contact with the water.
5. The fish consumption AZ use applies to a
non-WOTUS protected surface water if the Director makes a determination that
the non-WOTUS protected surface water is used by humans for harvesting aquatic
organisms for consumption. Harvestable aquatic organisms include, but are not
limited to, fish, clams, turtles, crayfish, and frogs.
6. The domestic water source AZ use applies
to a non-WOTUS protected surface water if the Director makes a determination
that the non-WOTUS protected surface water is used by humans as a source of
potable water.
7. The agricultural
irrigation AZ use applies to a non-WOTUS protected surface water if the
Director makes a determination that the non-WOTUS protected surface water is
used for crop irrigation.
8. The
agricultural livestock watering AZ use applies to any non-WOTUS protected
surface water if the Director makes a determination that the non-WOTUS
protected surface water is used as a water supply for consumption by
livestock.
