Ariz. Admin. Code § R18-9-C903 - General Permit Duration, Reissuance, and Continuation
A. General permit duration.
1. An AZPDES general permit is effective for
a fixed term of not more than five years. The Director may issue a permit for a
duration that is less than the full allowable term.
2. If the Director does not reissue a general
permit before the expiration date, the current general permit will be
administratively continued and remain in force and effect until the general
permit is reissued.
B.
Continued coverage. Any permittee granted permit coverage before the expiration
date automatically remains covered by the continued permit until the earlier
of:
1. Reissuance or replacement of the
permit, at which time the permittee shall comply with the Notice of Intent
conditions of the new permit to maintain authorization to discharge;
or
2. The date the permittee has
submitted a Notice of Termination; or
3. The date the Director has issued an
individual permit for the discharge; or
4. The date the Director has issued a formal
permit decision not to reissue the general permit, at which time the permittee
shall seek coverage under an alternative general permit or an individual
permit.
