Ariz. Admin. Code § R4-11-1403 - Storage and Packaging
A dentist shall:
1.
Keep all prescription-only drugs and devices in a secured area and control
access to the secured area by written procedure. The dentist shall make the
written procedure available to the Board or its authorized agents on demand for
inspection or copying;
2. Keep all
controlled substances secured in a locked cabinet or room, control access to
the cabinet or room by written procedure, and maintain an ongoing inventory of
the contents. The dentist shall make the written procedure available to the
Board or its authorized agents on demand for inspection or copying;
3. Maintain drug storage areas so that the
temperature in the drug storage areas does not exceed 85° F;
4. Not dispense a drug or device that has
expired or is improperly labeled;
5. Not redispense a drug or device that has
been returned;
6. Dispense a drug
or device:
a. In a prepackaged container or
light-resistant container with a consumer safety cap, unless the patient or
patient's representative requests a non-safety cap; and
b. With a label that is mechanically or
electronically printed;
7. Destroy an outdated, deteriorated, or
defective controlled substance according to Drug Enforcement Administration
regulations or by using a reverse distributor. A list of reverse distributors
may be obtained from the Drug Enforcement Administration; and
8. Destroy an outdated, deteriorated, or
defective non-controlled substance drug or device by returning it to the
supplier or by using a reverse distributor. A list of reverse distributors may
be obtained from the Drug Enforcement Administration.
