Ariz. Admin. Code § R9-16-605 - Practical Technologist in Bone Densitometry - Eligibility and Scope of Practice
A. An
individual is eligible for certification as a practical technologist in bone
densitometry if the individual:
1. Is at least
18 years of age; and
2. Either:
a. Has completed a training program in bone
densitometry through a Department-approved educational program and achieved a
score of at least 70% on a Department-approved examination, or
b. Meets the criteria in A.R.S. §
32-4302(A).
B. An individual
certified as a practical technologist in bone densitometry shall:
1. Follow the standards specified for Bone
Densitometry in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)
Practice Standards for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, effective June
30, 2024, available at
https://www.asrt.org/main/stan-dards-and-regulations/professional-practice/practice-standards-online,
incorporated by reference, on file with the Department, and including no future
editions or amendments; and
2.
Apply ionizing radiation only to a person's hips, spine, and extremities
through the use of a bone density machine without the use of fluoroscopy or
contrast media.
