Ariz. Admin. Code § R9-16-613 - Computed Tomography Technologist - Eligibility and Scope of Practice

A. An individual is eligible to apply for initial certification as a computed tomography technologist if the individual:
1. Is at least 18 years of age;
2. Possesses a current Department-issued certification as a radiologic technologist or nuclear medicine technologist; and
3. Satisfies one of the following:
a. Holds a current ARRT or NMTCB certification in computed tomography,
b. Has completed two years of training in computed tomography and twelve hours of computed tomography-specific education, or
c. Meets the criteria in A.R.S. § 32-4302(A).
B. An individual certified as a computed tomography technologist:
1. Shall follow the standards specified for Computed Tomography in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Practice Standards for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, effective June 30, 2024, available at https://www.asrt.org/main/standards-and-regulations/professional-practice/practice-standards-online, incorporated by reference, on file with the Department, and including no future editions or amendments; and
2. May apply ionizing radiation to a human using a computed tomography machine for diagnostic purposes.
