Ariz. Admin. Code § R9-7-401 - Purpose
A. Article 4
establishes standards for protection against ionizing radiation resulting from
activities conducted according to licenses or registrations issued by the
Department. These rules are issued according to A.R.S. Title 30, Chapter 4, as
amended.
B. The requirements of
Article 4 are designed to control the receipt, possession, use, transfer, and
disposal of sources of radiation by any licensee or registrant so the total
dose equivalent to an individual, including radiation exposure resulting from
all sources of radiation other than radiation prescribed by a physician in the
practice of medicine, radiation received while voluntarily participating in a
medical research program, and background radiation, does not exceed the
standards for protection against radiation prescribed in this Article. However,
this Article does not limit actions that may be necessary to protect health and
safety.
