Ariz. Admin. Code § R9-7-533 - Radiation Surveys
A. A
licensee shall conduct surveys with a calibrated and operable radiation survey
instrument that meets the requirements of
R9-7-504.
B. Using a survey instrument that complies
with subsection (A), the licensee shall conduct a survey of the radiographic
exposure device and the guide tube after each exposure before approaching the
device or the guide tube. The survey shall be performed to determine that the
sealed source is in the shielded position before the radiographer or
radiographer's assistant exchanges films, repositions the exposure head, or
dismantles the equipment.
C. The
licensee shall conduct a survey of the radiographic exposure device with a
calibrated radiation survey instrument any time the source is exchanged or the
device is placed in a storage area, as defined in
R9-7-102, to ensure that the sealed
source is in the shielded position.
D. The licensee shall maintain a record of
each exposure device survey conducted before the device is placed in storage
under subsection (C), if that survey is the last one performed during the
workday. Each record shall be maintained for three years after the record is
made.
