Ariz. Admin. Code § R9-7-807 - Surveys
A. To ensure that
personnel exposure does not result in a dose to an individual that exceeds the
dose limits specified in Article 4, a registrant shall perform a radiation
survey upon:
1. Installation of the equipment
and at least once each year after installation;
2. Change in the initial arrangement, number,
or type of local components in the system;
3. Maintenance that involves disassembly or
removal of a local component in the system;
4. Maintenance that involves alignment, if
alignment requires the generation of the primary x-ray beam while any local
component of the system is disassembled or removed;
5. A visual inspection of the local
components in the system that reveals an abnormal condition; or
6. Determination that personnel are being
exposed to radiation in excess of established levels recorded in monitoring
records for personnel during previous monitoring periods or the occupational
dose limits specified in Article 4.
B. The radiation surveys in subsection (A)
are not required if the registrant demonstrates that the local components of an
analytical x-ray system are located and arranged, and have sufficient shielding
or access control, to limit personnel exposure to a level that is ALARA and
below the occupational dose limits in Article 4. The Department shall determine
ALARA radiation levels based on the specified x-ray tube rating.
