Fla. Admin. Code Ann. R. 62-528.625 - Plugging and Abandonment for Class V Wells
(1) The Department shall order a Class V well
plugged and abandoned when it no longer performs its intended purpose, or when
it is determined that the presence of the well may cause or allow a violation
of a primary or secondary drinking water standard contained in Chapter 62-550,
F.A.C., or may otherwise adversely affect the health of persons.
(2) A plugging and abandonment plan shall be
submitted to the Department with the construction permit application.
(3) Prior to abandoning Class V wells, the
well shall be plugged with cement in a manner which will not allow movement of
fluids between underground sources of drinking water. The proposed plugging
method and type of cement shall be approved by the Department by inclusion as a
condition of the permit. Placement of the cement shall be accomplished by any
recognized method which is approved by the Department in the
permit.
