Fla. Admin. Code Ann. R. 69A-37.037 - Firefighter Training Course Medical Examination
(1) Pursuant to section
633.412(5),
F.S., an individual must be in good physical condition evidenced by a medical
examination in order to gain admission into a firefighter training program.
Proof of such a medical examination evidencing good physical condition must be
submitted to the Bureau, on Form DFS-K4-1022, Medical Examination to Determine
Fitness for Firefighter Training, which is incorporated by reference in
subsection 69A-37.039(2),
F.A.C., and can be obtained where indicated in subsection
69A-37.039(1),
F.A.C., before an individual is admitted into a firefighter training program as
defined in section 633.408, F.S.
(2) The medical examination, shall be based
upon the essential job tasks and descriptions of a firefighter as outlined in
Chapter 5 of the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA ®) 1582, Standard on Comprehensive
Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments (2018 Edition), and shall be
given by a physician, surgeon, or physician assistant licensed to practice in
the State of Florida pursuant to chapter 458, F.S.; an osteopathic physician,
surgeon, or physician assistant licensed to practice in the State of Florida
pursuant to chapter 459, F.S.; or an advanced practice registered nurse
licensed to practice in the State of Florida pursuant to chapter 464, F.S. An
individual shall receive this examination within six months of the scheduled
starting date of the firefighting program. Without a completed Form
DFS-K4-1022, an individual will not be allowed to attend training or test for
certification.
(3) Chapter 5 of
NFPA ® 1582, which is hereby incorporated by
reference, is copyrighted material that cannot be copied but may be:
(a) viewed during regular business hours at
