Fla. Admin. Code Ann. R. 69K-31.001 - Procedure Required
(1) Cremated remains
not claimed after 120 days from the date of cremation may be disposed of in any
of the following manners:
(a) Scattering at
sea;
(b) Placement in a licensed
cemetery scatter garden or pond;
(c) Placement in a cemetery lot, columbarium
niche or mausoleum;
(d) Placement
in a church columbarium;
(e)
Placement in a county, municipal, community, fraternal, non-profit, church or
veterans cemetery;
(f) Scattering
or placement in other areas where no local prohibition exists, provided the
cremated remains are not distinguishable to the public, and the scattering or
placement is done in a dignified manner.
(2) Each funeral establishment involved in
arrangements for cremation of deceased persons shall retain and make available
for inspection by the Department records pertaining to each cremation arranged
by the funeral establishment. Cremation records shall be retained for a period
of at least 2 years and shall include, but not be limited to the following:
(a) Signed declaration of intent;
(b) Date of cremation;
(c) Disposition of cremated remains;
and
(d) Contract for
funeral/cremation arrangements.
