Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. R. 111-8-37-.20 - Volunteer Services
(1)
The hospice must establish a program that utilizes volunteers to provide
services to terminally ill patients and family units in accordance with
patients' plans of care and/or to provide administrative support services for
the hospice.
(2) The hospice must
designate a coordinator of volunteer services who assists the administrator in
developing, documenting, and implementing a volunteer services
program.
(3) The hospice volunteer
coordinator must establish and implement effective written policies and
procedures relating to volunteer services. These policies and procedures must
address at a minimum:
(a) Recruitment and
retention;
(b) Screening;
(c) Orientation;
(d) Scope of function;
(e) Supervision;
(f) Basic infection control;
(g) Ongoing training and support;
and
(h) Documentation of volunteer
activities; and
(i) Patient rights
and reporting abuse and other serious incidents.
(4) Volunteer services must be provided
without compensation.
