Haw. Code R. § 13-171-21 - Duration of water use permit

(a) An interim permit is valid for such time period as prescribed by the commission and as specified on the permit therein. If an interim permit is issued pending verification of the actual quantity of water being consumed under the existing use, a final determination of that quantity shall be made within five years of the filing of the application to continue the existing use. In the final determination, the commission may increase or reduce the amount initially granted the permittee.
(b) Each permanent permit for water use in a designated water management area shall be valid until the designation of the water management area is rescinded, unless revoked as provided in section 13-171-24, or modified as provided in section 13-171-23.
