Haw. Code R. § 13-244-20 - Stolen or lost vessels
(a) Police reports
pursuant to section
200-27, Hawaii
Revised Statutes. The police chief of each political subdivision of the State
shall transmit to the department a copy of every investigation report hereafter
submitted by subordinate officers which relate to theft, loss or recovery of
vessels required to be registered and numbered pursuant to section
200-31,
Hawaii Revised Statutes.
(b) Owner
reports to department. The owner of a vessel numbered in accordance with the
laws of the State which has been stolen, lost or embezzled may notify the
department of the theft or embezzlement, but in the event of an embezzlement
the owner may make the report to the department only after having procured the
issuance of a warrant for the arrest of the person charged with the
embezzlement. Every owner who has given such notice shall notify the department
of a recovery of the vessel.
