Haw. Code R. § 13-256-156 - Kailua Pier Restricted Zones
(a) Kailua Pier
Restricted Zones means the areas defined by the boundary lines as shown on
Exhibit "III", dated June 30, 1988, located at the end of this subchapter. The
boundaries are are as follows:
(b)
Zone A.
(1) Beginning at a point at the low
water mark on the east side of Kailua Pier; then by azimuth measured clockwise
from True South, 317 degrees for a distance of two hundred twenty feet; 336
degrees for a distance of three hundred twelve feet; 026 degrees 30 minutes for
a distance of four hundred sixty-five feet; 158 degrees for a distance of three
hundred four feet; 214 degrees for a distance of one hundred eighteen feet to
the western seaward edge of Kailua Pier.
(2) Restrictions. This area is designated for
boating use only. Swimming is prohibited.
(c) Zone B.
(1) Beginning at a point at the low water
mark on the east side of Kailua Pier; then by azimuth measured clockwise from
True South; 317 degrees for a distance of two hundred twenty feet; 292 degrees
for a distance of six hundred eighty-three feet to intersect with the low water
mark fronting the western property line of Hulihee Palace; thence along the low
water mark to the beginning.
(2)
Restrictions. This area is designated a swimming zone. No person shall operate
or moor a vessel within this zone, except for commercial fishing vessels
engaged in baitfishing operations. Vessels operating near the shoreline of
Kailua Bay between Hulihee Palace and the Kona Hilton Hotel shall exercise
caution due to swimming activity.
