Haw. Code R. § 16-39-423 - Examination requirements
(a) Unless
specifically exempt, every applicant for registration as a securities agent
shall be required to pass a written examination that tests the applicant's
knowledge of the securities business.
(b) The examination requirement of subsection
(a) shall be deemed satisfied upon evidence to the commissioner that the
applicant has passed an examination administered by FINRA that is appropriate
for the type of business that will be conducted by the agent and FINRA's
Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination.
(c) An applicant who has not been registered
in any jurisdiction for a period of two consecutive years immediately preceding
the date of the application shall be required to comply with the examination
requirements of this chapter.
(d)
Notwithstanding any other provision to the contrary, the commissioner may by
order waive the examination requirement if the commissioner determines that the
examination is not necessary or appropriate in the public interest or for the
protection of investors.
