Haw. Code R. § 16-74-431 - Award points
In awarding points the following shall be taken into consideration:
(1) Number of hits.
Points shall be awarded for direct, clean hits with the knuckle part of the
closed glove on any part of the front or side of the head or body above the
belt. Hits on the arms do not count. Backhand blows do not count.
(2) Defense. Credit shall be given for
successfully avoiding blows, so that the attack of the opponent
misses.
(3) Tactics. Attacking and
tactics shall be considered at the end of each round when awarding the points
for the round.
(4) Fouls. Foul
blows shall not be counted in awarding points for hits. If the referee warns
one of the competitors for a foul, the judges shall award points to the other
competitor.
