Haw. Code R. § 17-1737-58 - Diagnosis and treatment
(a) Diagnostic and
treatment services shall be provided for problems identified during screening
regardless of whether the service is included in the department's state plan.
Provision of services that are not included in the state plan shall be based on
medical necessity and require prior authorization, and shall be limited to
services permitted under medicaid.
(b) Assistance in referral shall be provided
for treatment services not covered by the medical assistance program
(medicaid), but determined to be needed as a result of problems identified
during screening and diagnosis. Assistance in referral only shall include
giving the recipient or family the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of
providers who are able to furnish the needed treatment at little or no cost to
the recipient or family.
(c) Dental
care, at as early an age as necessary for relief of pain and infections,
restoration of teeth and maintenance of dental health in accordance with
section 17-1737-75. Dental diagnosis and treatment shall be started within
sixty days of the screening date and the treatment plan shall be completed
within one hundred-twenty days from the date a procedure was initiated, except
under noted extenuating circumstances.
(d) Diagnostic and treatment services shall
be started within six months from the request for screening services by the
recipient or family.
