Haw. Code R. § 17-655-28 - Financial assistance eligibility requirements for residents of institutions
(a) The following
individuals shall not be eligible for financial assistance:
(1) An inmate in a public
institution;
(2) A resident or
patient in an institution for mental disease, tuberculosis, or the mentally
retarded; and
(3) A resident or
patient in a long-term care facility.
(b) An individual may be eligible for
financial assistance if the individual has been paroled from a public
institution or is on conditional release or convalescent leave from an
institution for mental disease, tuberculosis, or the mentally
retarded.
(c) An inmate of a public
institution may apply for financial assistance but assistance shall not begin
until the inmate has left the institution.
(d) An individual shall not be considered an
inmate of a public institution when the individual is in a public educational
or vocational training institution for purposes of securing education or
vocational training.
