Haw. Code R. § 17-663-22 - Drug addiction or alcohol treatment and rehabilitation programs as authorized representatives
(a) Residents of
drug addiction or alcohol treatment and rehabilitation programs may apply for
food stamp benefits and shall be certified through the use of an authorized
representative. The authorized representative shall be a designated employee of
the private nonprofit organization or institution that is administering the
treatment and rehabilitation program. The organization or institution shall
apply for food stamp benefits on behalf of each drug addict or alcoholic and
shall receive and spend the food stamp benefit allotment for food prepared,
served, or both, to the drug addict or alcoholic.
(b) Narcotic addicts or alcoholics who for
the purpose of regular participation in a drug addiction or alcohol treatment
and rehabilitation program, reside at a facility or treatment center, shall not
be considered residents of institutions.
