Haw. Code R. § 17-798.3-15 - Method of computing the need for care
The following shall be used to compute the need for care for each eligible child in the family unit needing child care payments:
(1) Counting the hours the caretaker is
engaged in the allowable activity except for:
(A) Individuals identified in section
17-798.3-9(b)(3)(F), the child care need shall be based on the number of hours
of child care specified in the court-ordered service plan; or
(B) When in the case of a family unit, with
two caretakers, both caretakers' activity hours shall be the same overlapping
hours; and
(2) The hours
of care that the eligible child needing child care payment is attending the
child care facility; and
(3)
Comparing the hours of child care needed determined by paragraphs (1) and (2),
and choosing the lesser amount.
