Haw. Code R. § 17-800-47 - Transportation provisions
When transportation is provided by the provider, children shall be protected by adequate supervision and safety precautions as follows:
(1) The provider has written
permission from the parent or guardian that each child is allowed to be
transported by school bus or other means of transportation such as a personal
vehicle;
(2) During any field trip
or excursion operated or planned by the facility, the group sizes and
provider-child ratios as required in section 17-800-42 shall apply;
(3) Children shall be instructed in safe
transportation conduct;
(4) Car
seats and safety restraints shall be used as required by applicable
laws;
(5) Children shall be secured
in the back seat of the vehicle;
(6) Children shall not be left alone in
vehicles, even with the air conditioning on or windows rolled down;
and
(7) The provider shall take a
head count or attendance record check before and after transportation is
provided.
