Haw. Code R. § 19-127.1-7 - Utility poles
Utility poles should be located as set forth in chapter 19-105. All other sign poles, light standards, or any other poles should be located within a clear zone distance as established by the AASHTO guides, or should be designed to "break away" or shear off when struck by a vehicle.
