Haw. Code R. § 4-29-9 - Post-shipment requirements and quarantine
(a) Dogs, cats, and
other carnivores originating from the United States or any area not designated
by the board as exempt pursuant to section
4-29-10 shall, upon arrival, be confined in the quarantine station or in a satellite
quarantine station for a period of not more than one hundred twenty days to
prevent the introduction of rabies. The first quarantine day shall be the day
following the date of animal arrival into the State.
(b) Prior to entry into the State, dogs,
cats, and other carnivores may be treated with an approved external parasite
insecticide at the discretion of the state veterinarian except when a
veterinarian provides a written statement that the use of such an insecticide
may be detrimental to the animal's health.
(c) Failure to meet all pre-shipment and
post-shipment requirements may result in refused entry or one hundred twenty
days quarantine.
