Ill. Admin. Code tit. 41, § 141.336 - Arson Investigator

a) An Illinois Arson Investigator certification shall meet or exceed the qualifications identified in NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921.
b) Prerequisites
1) Employed by a local governmental agency or the Office.
2) Successful completion of the Fire Investigator Course (see Section 141.334).
3) Successful completion of an Arson Investigator course approved by the Division and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
4) Application for Certification/Validation-Attestation.
c) Training documentation shall be maintained in the individual's department training records.
d) A qualified instructor shall be approved by the Division and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board prior to the course offering.
e) Fire department or individual reimbursement may be available for training costs for Arson Investigator as provided in Subpart E.
f) The course and facility shall be approved by the Division, in accordance with Subpart B.
g) Credit for equivalent courses may be approved by the Division in accordance with Section 141.120.
