Ill. Admin. Code tit. 35, § 380.525 - Class K Certificate Issuance
a) The Agency shall issue a Class K
Certificate of Technical Competency when the applicant demonstrates all the
following:
1) The applicant is capable of
performing his or her duties without endangering the health and well-being of
the populace and is capable of maintaining and properly operating the
structures and equipment entrusted to his or her care;
2) The applicant is capable of conducting and
maintaining the facility in a safe manner;
3) The applicant has obtained a score of 70
or higher on a Class K examination; and
4) The applicant has graduated from high
school or has the equivalent to a high school education, and the applicant is
able to read and write English.
b) A Class K certificate will indicate, and
is only valid for, the specific industrial wastewater treatment works or
pretreatment works for which the operator has been certified.
c) The Agency shall invalidate a Class K
Certificate of Technical Competency if the industrial wastewater treatment
works or pretreatment works is modified to include a different treatment
process. The determination shall be based on review of the construction permit
required pursuant to 35 Ill. Adm. Code
309.202 and the expertise
necessary to operate the modified treatment works.
