Ill. Admin. Code tit. 35, § 611.952 - Additional Watershed Control Requirements for Unfiltered Systems
a) Applicability. A
Subpart B system supplier that serves fewer than 10,000 persons that does not
provide filtration must continue to comply with all of the filtration avoidance
criteria in Sections
611.211 and
611.230
through
611.233,
as well as the additional watershed control requirements in subsection
(b).
b) Requirements to Avoid
Filtration. A supplier must take any additional steps necessary to minimize the
potential for contamination by Cryptosporidium oocysts in the source water. A
watershed control program must fulfill the following for Cryptosporidium:
1) The program must identify watershed
characteristics and activities that may have an adverse effect on source water
quality; and
2) The program must
monitor the occurrence of activities that may have an adverse effect on source
water quality.
c)
Determination of Adequacy of Control Requirements. During an onsite inspection
conducted under the provisions of Section
611.232(c),
the Agency must determine whether a watershed control program is adequate to
limit potential contamination by Cryptosporidium oocysts. The adequacy of the
program must be based on the comprehensiveness of the watershed review; the
effectiveness of the program to monitor and control detrimental activities
occurring in the watershed; and the extent to which the supplier has maximized
land ownership or controlled land use within the watershed.
