Ill. Admin. Code tit. 41, § 141.372 - Water Operations
Water Operations is designed to give fire service personnel the basic knowledge and skills to safely perform water rescues as defined by NFPA 1670.
a) Prerequisites
1) Certification in Rope Operations
.
2) Successful completion of the
Water Operations course.
3) Passage
of the State written examination.
4) Passage of the State practical skills
examinations .
5) Engagement as
Illinois fire protection personnel, as attested to by the employing Fire Chief
of the individual seeking certification.
b) Reimbursement may be received for training
costs for Water Operations (see Subpart E).
c) A qualified instructor for this level must
be a certified Fire Service Instructor II and certified in Water Operations.
1) There shall be a minimum of 2 instructors
per course. There shall be at least one instructor for each 6
students.
2) All other instructors
on site shall be a certified Fire Service Instructor I and certified in Water
Operations.
d) The
course and facility must be approved by the Division as provided in Subpart
B.
e) Credit for equivalent courses
may be available in accordance with Section
141.120.
