465 IAC 4-1-21 - Types of adoption assistance

Sec. 21.
Adoption assistance may include any of the following:
(1) Title IV-E adoption assistance program
(AAP): a periodic payment to an adoptive parent on behalf of an eligible child,
pursuant to
42 U.S.C.
673 and this rule.
(2) State adoption subsidy (SAS): a periodic
payment to an adoptive parent on behalf of a child eligible for a state
adoption subsidy pursuant to IC 31-19-26.5 and this rule.
(3) Medicaid: participation in Indiana's
Title XIX Medicaid program under IC 12-15 and all applicable provisions of 405
IAC.
(4) Nonrecurring adoption
expenses (NRAE): subject to the limitation determined under section 24(5) of
this rule, payment or reimbursement for reasonable and necessary adoption fees,
court costs, attorney fees, and other expenses that are actually incurred and
directly related to the adoption of a special needs child, excluding expenses
that were:
(A) incurred or paid in violation
of any federal or state law; or
(B)
reimbursed to the adoptive parent from another source of funds.
