Iowa Admin. Code r. 281-17.4 - Open enrollment for kindergarten or certain prekindergarten programs

A parent/guardian of a kindergarten pupil or a parent/guardian of a prekindergarten student enrolled in a special education program and eligible to be included in the resident school district's basic enrollment under Iowa Code section 257.6(1) "a"(1) may request to enroll the pupil or student in a district other than the district of residence. In considering an application under this rule, the resident and the receiving district are not precluded from administering board-adopted policies related to insufficient classroom space, the provisions of rule 281-17.11 (282), or the provisions of a desegregation order. As an alternative procedure, the receiving board may, by policy, authorize the superintendent to approve, but not deny, applications filed under this rule.
