The department will review documentation submitted by school
districts and area education agencies regarding the school districts' and area
education agencies' gifted and talented programs and financial transactions.
The department may request that the staff of the auditor of state conduct an
independent program audit to verify that the gifted and talented programs
conform to a school district's program plans. The department will provide
technical assistance to school districts and to area education agencies in the
development of gifted and talented programs.
