Iowa Admin. Code r. 441-76.6 - Referral for Medicare savings program

Referrals received from the federal Social Security Administration pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1320 b - 14(c)(3) when the individual has indicated that the individual wants to apply for the Medicare savings program will be treated by the department as an application for the Medicare savings program and will be processed as if the application were received directly by the department. The date on which the referral is transmitted by the Social Security Administration shall be treated as the date of application. When requested to do so, the applicant must complete Medicare Savings Programs Additional Information Request, Form 470-4846, to provide additional information needed to determine Medicare savings program eligibility.
