Iowa Admin. Code r. 481-37.1 - Building and grounds
Owners or managers are expected to keep hotels clean. This means there shall be no litter nor accumulation of refuse anywhere on the premises. The floors, walls, and ceilings shall be kept clean and in good repair
(1) Screens or self-closing
doors shall be used to keep flies, mosquitoes and other pests out of hotel
lobbies, kitchens, or any other indoor area. Other effective methods are
acceptable.
(2) All garbage must be
kept in metal or plastic containers with tight-fitting lids. Garbage must be
removed regularly so it does not create offensive odors, a problem with insects
or rodents, or health or fire hazards.
(3) Any room or article which becomes infested with
insects or vermin shall be cleaned or chemically treated until there are no
more insects or vermin.
