Iowa Admin. Code r. 481-552.4 - [Effective 7/16/2025] Pharmacy personnel standards

(1) Pharmacy personnel. Each pharmacy will employ personnel who:
a. Are licensed or registered pursuant to 481-Chapter 551.
b. Have documented training or education for the activities within their scope of practice.
(2) Identification. When the pharmacy is open to the public, pharmacy personnel will wear visible identification to provide the individual's first name and title.
(3) Telepharmacy certified pharmacy technicians. Prior to working in a telepharmacy under remote pharmacist supervision, a certified pharmacy technician will have:
a. Worked at least 1,000 hours in an Iowa-licensed pharmacy.
b. Completed at least 160 hours of training in a managing pharmacy, at another pharmacy using the same audiovisual technology system, or at the telepharmacy site under the direct supervision of an on-site pharmacist.
